Located in the western reaches of Thanh Hoa province, Pù Luông Nature Reserve covers more than 17,000 hectares across the Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa districts, encircling Vietnam’s beautiful forests as well as Laos’s. The moderate mountain environment of the area blesses us; every year, as the rice ripens, its tiered fields open in golden glory, calling forth the ageless beauty of a lacquer masterpiece. Both experienced photographers and adventurous visitors wanting to see what residents affectionately refer to as “the golden season” find here a fleeting spectacle.
